Frequently Asked Questions

How is Golf Psycho coaching different from a regular golf lesson?

A golf lesson focuses on your technique: what your body is doing. Golf Psycho focuses on what your mind is doing: the patterns, pressure responses, and habits that show up on the course and don't respond to technical fixes. Most of our clients have had plenty of lessons. That's not what's holding them back.

Do you work on my golf swing?

No, and that's intentional. Golf Psycho works exclusively on the mental side of your game: focus, composure, managing pressure, and breaking patterns that swing instruction alone hasn't been able to fix. We don't touch your mechanics. If you're looking for a swing coach, we're not the right fit. But if you've had lessons and something else keeps getting in the way, that's exactly what we address.  Most golfers that we work with also work with a swing coach while working with us. We may chat about swing thoughts, but I will not touch your technique.

Who is Golf Psycho coaching for?

Any golfer who believes their mental game is the gap between where they are and where they want to be. You don't need to be scratch you need to be serious about improving and open to the idea that the obstacle isn't your swing. We work with touring pros, competitive amateurs, recreational golfers who have hit a plateau, and players who have tried everything technically and are still stuck. We also work with kiddos and their families.

Is Golf Psycho coaching the same as occupational therapy or speech therapy treatment?

No. Golf Psycho is golf mental game coaching and education NOT occupational therapy, NOT speech-language therapy, and NOT any other form of licensed medical or mental health treatment. No medical diagnosis is made and no clinician-client relationship is formed.

What makes our coaching different is the depth of training behind it. Laurie is a licensed Occupational Therapist (Texas and California) with continuing education in yoga science. Carlos holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders and is a former Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), continuing education in yoga science, in addition to his certification as a health coach and over 30 years as a competitive golfer. We combine what we've learned across those fields with real, personal experience rebuilding a mental game but none of it is delivered to you as clinical treatment. It's coaching, built on real expertise.

What is the Golf Psycho Golf Mental Game Performance Analysis and how does it work?

The Golf Psycho Golf Mental Game Performance Analysis is a two-session process, both conducted over Zoom.

The Golf Psycho Golf Mental Game Performance Analysis is our original, proprietary methodology developed, refined, and delivered exclusively by us. You will not find this process anywhere else.

Session 1 (approximately one hour) is the analysis itself. We go deep into how your mental game actually works on the course what triggers your patterns, how you respond under pressure, and where the real gaps are. This isn't a general coaching call; it's a structured evaluation built around you specifically.

Session 2 (approximately 30 minutes) is where we deliver a personalized set of recommendations based on everything we found in session 1. You leave with a clear picture of what's driving your on-course patterns and a concrete plan how to actually change them.

Is it in person or virtual?

The Golf Psycho Golf Mental Game Performance Analysis is conducted entirely over Zoom, so it doesn't matter where you're located. Ongoing coaching after the Golf Psycho Golf Mental Game Performance Analysis is available both virtually and in person depending on your location and preference.

How much does the evaluation cost?

[UPDATE BEFORE PUBLISHING] Recommended: $497 for the full two-session Golf Psycho Mental Game Performance Analysis. This covers both Zoom sessions -  the analysis and the recommendations. Ongoing coaching following these initial appointments will be discussed at the close of your second session.
